Viska processes all data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your audio recordings, transcriptions, or conversations on any external servers. Your data never leaves your device.
Kickstart Crew LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Viska mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the App. We believe in complete privacy and transparency. Our business model is based on selling a secure software tool, not on collecting or selling your data.
1. No Data Collection
We do not collect, store, share, or sell your personal data.
- No Accounts: You do not need to create an account to use Viska.
- No Servers: We do not operate a server that receives your data. All processing happens locally on your device.
- No Analytics: We do not use third-party analytics services (like Google Analytics, Firebase, or Mixpanel) to track your behavior inside the App.
2. Local Data Processing & Storage
All audio recordings, transcriptions, and chat interactions generated within Viska are processed and stored exclusively on your local device.
- Audio Processing: The App uses on-device technology (e.g., Whisper.cpp) to transcribe audio. Your audio files are never uploaded to the cloud.
- AI Chat: The App uses on-device language models (e.g., Llama) to chat about your transcripts. Your queries and the model's responses are generated locally and never leave your device.
- Database: Your transcripts and chats are stored in an encrypted SQL database on your device. We (Kickstart Crew LLC) do not have the encryption keys and cannot access this data.
Important: Because your data is stored locally, if you delete the App or lose your device without a backup, your data may be unrecoverable. We cannot restore your data because we never possessed it.
3. Device Permissions
To function, the App requires specific permissions. These permissions are used only for the functionality described below:
- Microphone: Required to record audio for meetings, conferences, or dictation.
- Storage/Files: Required to save your recordings and transcripts to your device’s internal memory.
- Notifications (Optional): Used solely to inform you when a long transcription task is complete.
4. Third-Party Services
The App itself does not share data with third parties. However, the App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. These platforms may collect anonymous technical data (such as crash reports or installation metrics) subject to their own privacy policies and your device settings.
- Apple App Store: governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Store: governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect data from any user, we also do not collect data from children.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal or regulatory requirements. Since we do not collect your email address, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
